Embraer And CAE Launch APAC’s First E-Jets E2 Full Flight Simulator

Embraer and CAE today unveiled their new E-Jets E2 full flight simulator and training program in Singapore.

With two Asian airlines awaiting their first Embraer E-Jets E2 aircraft it is timely that today the first E2 Full Flight Simulator in the Asia-Pacific region was unveiled in Singapore. The simulator and associated training services are part of the recently expanded Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS) joint venture located near Changi Airport in Singapore.

First two customers are ready to go

The two Asian airlines that will directly benefit from having the facility on their doorstep are Singapore’s Scoot and Malaysia’s SKS Airways. Singapore Airlines subsidiary and low-cost carrier Scoot has ordered nine Embraer E190-E2s, while Malaysia’s SKS Airways has signed for ten of the larger E195-E2 version. Both airlines will be the launch customers for the E2 variants and will induct their first aircraft this year.

Pilots from Scoot have already commenced training in preparation for the entry into service of the Embraer E190-E2, and the range of the E2 jets opens up many new route possibilities for Scoot, but those details are yet to be released. However, in November, Scoot CEO Leslie Thng told Simple Flying that the E190-E2s would be flying regional routes from Singapore to smaller destinations when it made more sense for Scoot to fly those rather than Singapore Airlines.

Having the new facility at their home base is a boon for the Scoot pilots, who will experience all aspects of flight in the latest generation full flight simulator and practice multiple scenarios to enhance skills as they prepare for the E190 E-2’s first revenue flights.

A solid commitment to Asia-Pacific E2 operators

Embraer Services and Support President and CEO Carlos Naufel was at today’s inauguration in Singapore, and he had this to say:

“We celebrate the successful operations of the E2 simulator and comprehensive pilot training program and thank all of our partners and employees who have been involved in this process. This is part of Embraer’s commitment to grow our infrastructure in Asia-Pacific and to contribute to the region’s aviation growth story, and along with CAE, we remain committed to providing high-quality training to our customers and pilots.”

With the flight simulator in place and running the joint venture is now offering its latest program, the E-Jets E2 training. This features CAE’s competency-based training assessment (CBTA) courseware, interactive classroom instruction with the CAE Simfinity virtual simulator (VSIM), and immersive practical training in a new state-of-the-art CAE 7000XR Series full flight simulator.

Classroom sessions are also important and include interactive touchscreen training that accelerates the learning process. The VSIM is a powerful familiarization and practice tool for pilot training that provides access to all the aircraft’s systems, which can be used to simulate multiple systems functions as a classroom and briefing tool, as well as by pilots for familiarization and individualized training.

Embraer, along with CAE and other partners in the MRO sector, is putting in a lot of preparation for the arrival of the E-Jets E2 and building the complete support ecosystem to support the new aircraft’s entry into service later this year. Today marks a big step forward and is a testament to the investment the Brazillian manufacturer is making in supporting its customers and aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region.
